The experience behind the work

Yi earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Long Island University, Post Campus. He completed his psychology internship residency at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital SouthEast and Aspire Health Alliance.

His work includes assessment and treatment of adults with a broad range of mental health conditions and co-occurring concerns in outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient settings. He is a Postdoctoral Associate at Boston University’s Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders.

Yi’s approach is grounded in third-wave behavior therapy. He emphasizes a healing therapeutic relationship and psychological flexibility, tailoring evidence-based methods to each client’s needs. These include ACT, DBT, the Unified Protocol, CBT, SFBT, and BSP.

Yi’s research interests include evaluating how well evidence-based therapies work and how they can be adapted across cultures. As Clear Harbor’s Clinical Lead, he brings this clinical and research perspective to the organization’s work.

Yi Liu, PsyD, serves as Clear Harbor’s Clinical Lead and is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD) at Boston University. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Long Island University, Post Campus, and completed his psychology internship residency at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital SouthEast and Aspire Health Alliance.

Yi has assessed and treated adults with a broad range of mental health conditions and complex co-occurring concerns. His clinical experience spans outpatient, partial hospitalization (PHP), and inpatient settings.

His therapeutic approach is grounded in third-wave behavior therapy, with an emphasis on a healing therapeutic relationship and psychological flexibility. Depending on each client’s needs, he integrates evidence-based methods including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and BSP.

Yi’s research interests include evaluating the effectiveness of evidence-based therapies and their cultural adaptations. His clinical and research experience informs his work as Clear Harbor’s Clinical Lead.
