Her work explores how international students, immigrants, and Asian communities navigate identity, belonging, family expectations, academic pressure, and the emotional work of adapting to a new cultural environment. She considers social connection, language, and access to resources part of wellbeing.
Yushan has worked with students and communities through graduate representation, community programming, immigrant and family-focused initiatives, and educational support. She has also contributed to mental-health media projects and facilitated conversations on discrimination, identity, and inclusion.
As Public Communication Chair, Yushan brings an interdisciplinary and community-centered perspective to how Clear Harbor reaches people living across cultures. She values communication that helps people feel understood, connected, and more confident navigating unfamiliar systems.

Yushan Wang serves as Public Communication Chair at Clear Harbor Healing and Empowerment. An interdisciplinary researcher and community engagement practitioner, she is interested in mental health, migration, international student wellbeing, and cross-cultural adjustment.
Yushan is pursuing a Ph.D. in Communication at the University of Maryland, College Park. She holds an M.S.Ed. in Education, Culture, and Society from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Communication in Media and Communication Studies from Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University. Her work draws on communication, education, sociology, gender studies, and community development.
Across academic and community settings, Yushan has worked with students, immigrants, and families through representation, programming, educational support, and workshops. She has contributed to mental-health media projects, including podcast production, and facilitated discussions on discrimination, identity, inclusion, and lived experience.
Yushan is especially interested in the everyday conditions that shape wellbeing: loneliness, social connection, language, cultural identity, family relationships, and access to community resources. She values collaboration among counselors, educators, researchers, and community organizations to make support more inclusive and culturally responsive for people building lives across cultures.
